Consultation on Possible Changes to the No3 Bus Route

by Roger Harmer on 20 October, 2013

Centro and local bus operators are consulting on possible changes to the No3 Bus Route. These changes could have important implications for Acocks Green residents who use the 3.

The consultation covers a number of other changes as well, but the section relating to the 3 says:

“Problem/Idea: Only a small number of people travel to Acocks Green on this service and it only touches the edge of the shopping area in Shirley.”

It then suggests the route could be changed so that it “serves more of Shirley High Street than Acocks Green. The route could then serve the Green Business Park (off Dog Kennel Lane) or extend to Solihull.”

The consultation paper then goes to to say “By making this change to the 3, we could introduce a new express route between Shirley, Gospel Oak, Acocks Green and the city centre. This route could be operated via Yardley Road to Yardley and then via the Small Heath Highway. Alternatives would be via Kings Road or Golden Hillock Road.”

If you want to find out more, you can look at the relevant page on the Network West Midlands site here

The consultation runs until 15th November 2013. You can comment online or at one of two exhibitions:

* Saturday 2nd November, 9am to 3pm, High Street, Birmingham City Centre

* Tuesday 12th November, 12noon to 6pm, by Marks & Spencer, Solihull Town Centre
