The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress (pictured above) came to Acocks Green today to share in the celebrations for the 10th anniversary of the Westley Vale Millennium Green. As you can see from my picture they planted a tree and they also walked around the Green and chatted to residents and members of the Management Committee.
It was a wonderful celebration of the Green with wassailing, a candlelit procession and the Scouts providing hot refreshments. There were even some fireworks and juggling. Here’s to the next 10 years and the continued development of the Green!

Yes, a lovely and different event.
I’ve planted our wassailing willow sticks in the garden !
Perhaps its my wicked imagination, but at times I kept thinking about the final scene in the Wicker Man !!
