The City Council is undertaking the following works at the access point to the Fox Hollies Leisure Centre off Shirley Road:
(1) Widening the road corners into/out of Fox Hollies Leisure Centre Access Road, to provide improved turning for vehicles to/from Shirley Road
(2) The Zebra Crossing is to be relocated between 5-10 metres further west of the widened junction
(3) Associated measures in support of the alterations to the junction (e.g. relocation of street furniture, removal/replacement of one tree outside Nr 326 Shirley Road).
Work is anticipated to start during week commencing

Why ?
When money is tight is this a priority.
The next crossing along, opposite the gully ay the side of the leisure centre
should be considered first. It needs longer non parking lines because of the poor visibility because of the slight curvature of the road and the parking. There have been several near misses there.
