by Roger Harmer on 3 July, 2010

The first of the new Acocks Green Police Tasking meetings took place in Acocks Green Police station on Thursday evening. The priority areas for action which were agreed were:

1) Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) at the junction of Wetherfield Road and Holcombe Road in Tyseley

2) Ongoing ASB in Northanger Road

3) ASB in Nailstone Crescent

4) ASB in Overton Grove

5) Travellers parked in the car park of the Britannia Pub. They are to be served with notices of eviction.

6) The Alexander Road Mosque has asked for parking restrictions to be strictly enforced during Friday prayers. Police to attend on Friday 2nd and issue warnings if needed and then enforce with Fixed Penalty Fines thereafter.

7) Glass bottles are being left in Stockfield Park, leaving it a danger to the children who play there. It will be cleared and a watch kept to try to prevent further such littering.

Eight) Rubbish is not being collected properly from Wetherfield Road – this needs addressing with a report back at the next tasking meeting.

The next Tasking meeting will be on Thursday 5th August at 7pm – the venue is to be confirmed.

Hi Councillor, We used to go to task meetings but due to work and only able to grandchild on certain days we can no longer make it.
We for years on an off have put up with ASB on Tibland Rd and lost count how many times we have complained we know of three family’s that have left because of ASB in the past, But I just had to write this after my wife phoning Acocks Green housing Tuesday to complain of the latest troubles and was just more or less told to contact police because they no longer cover ASB now I can’t believe if kids of coucil tennants are causing a nuisance shouting-swearing-spitting acting like yobs with no respect for where they live this is nothing to do with council, In the past we have had cricket-golf-tennis,football(up to 20 people)and stone throwing as the usual games(don’t leave car on front because of getting scratches an little dents) had car an house windows broken and property damaged all this up an down the road with the usual shouting swearing(the park is two minuets away) alot of these kids have grown up and moved on(still get a bit of trouble now an then) but we are still left with same family’s and now there younger brothers and sisters who have grown up thinking this behavior is normal, after a few emails to police I have now had a reply, here is my last email I sent
Thank you for reply, we are at our wits end again coming home from work and
having to sit in house with windows closed because of loutish
behavior(shouting swearing just acting like yobs) there are now girls with
them(number 97) so they really like to mouth off, It has been bad since they
was taking it in turn climbing up and shaking the let by sign in house over
road and I told them to stop it, perhaps I should have just let them pull it
down seeing as there parents take no notice, After this it was ball in my
garden and them just coming in to get it as per usual(they just go in any
ones garden) after I told the youth to keep out I had a load of abuse off again
number 99(PC Smith visited him before) there has been quit a large group
lately lots of friends of number 99 from other roads(sorry don’t know names)
whether its because girls are out with them? I don’t know.
They always start after school around five till dark, Its hard to explain
how bad it can be, but usually if one kid is playing ball(doing no harm)
then it ends up with a load of kids(we have had up to 20 some years back)
then its the usual shouting ball against car in garden etc..

    Regards
    Mr Williams
