Acocks Green Village Social Distancing Measures

by Roger Harmer on 15 June, 2020

With non-essential shops re-opening, the Council has been making changes to the pedestrian areas in Acocks Green Village to support better social distancing.

The scheme includes yellow continuous lines to indicate areas assigned for queuing and access to or from premises and white dashed lines to help segregate pedestrian flows to support social distancing. Some items of street furniture are being removed or relocated temporarily.

The scheme has been designed to take account the renewal of the gas main being carried out on the Warwick Road by Cadent. This will work will continue until 10th July (as currently planned).

The History Boards are being removed for now but will be replaced when the pandemic has eased sufficiently. The Village Notice Board and Finger Post will be retained.

There will be a review with the traders on Wednesday, to discuss how things are going. Based on this, there may then be some adjustments to the scheme.

I’d be very interested in your feedback on how it is working, especially before the review meeting on Wednesday.
