Acocks Green’s Claimant Unemployment fell by 13 to 682 in December. This is a fall of 263 over the past year, reducing the claimant rate from 7.2% to 5.2% in that time. The level of long term unemployment fell by 5 to 260 and the number of youth claimants also fell by 5 to 150.

Across Birmingham as a whole, the claimant unemployment level is down 885 in the month and 10,091 in the past year. It now stands at 31,338 or 6.5%. Its over 14% in 3 wards: Aston, Lozells & East Handsworth and Washwood Heath but under 2% in the four Sutton Coldfield Wards and Selly Oak.
