Candidates for the 2014 Acocks Green Ward City Council Election

by Roger Harmer on 24 April, 2014

We now have the full list of candidates for the 2014 Birmingham City Council elections. In Acocks Green, I will be standing again for the Liberal Democrats. The full list of candidates (in alphabetical order) in our  patch is as follows:

Amanda Baker: The Green Party

Eamonn Flynn: Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition

Roger Harmer: Liberal Democrats

Charlotte Hodlvala: The Conservative Party Candidate

Peter Johnson: Social Democratic Party

Rachel Seabright: Labour Party Candidate

Half of the 6: myself, the Green Party candidate and the TUSC candidate, live in Acocks Green. The Conservative Party candidate lives in Sutton Coldfield and the Labour Party candidate lives in Harborne.

The big surprise is that UKIP, who came third (admittedly a distant third) last time, have not fielded a candidate. The BNP have also failed to put forward a candidate. Otherwise the list of parties standing is the same as 2012, albeit that the ‘Trade Unionists and Socialists against the Cuts’ have now become the ‘Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition’.
